Գրիգոր Պողպատյանը ծնվել է 1945 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 9-ին, Երևանում։
1968 թվականին ավարտել է Պոլիտեխնիկական ինստիտուտի կիբեռնետիկայի ֆակուլտետը՝ ռադիոտեխնիկի մասնագիտությամբ։ 1970-1982թթ․ աշխատել է Համամիութենական էլեկտրատեխնիկական գիտահետազոտական ինստիտուտի Հայաստանի մասնաճյուղում՝ որպես ինժեներ, սեկտորի վարիչ, կոնստրուկտոր։ 1982-1991թթ․ աշխատել է «Լազերային տեխնիկա»
գիտաարդյունաբերական միավորումում՝ որպես բաժնի վարիչ, գլխավոր կոնստրուկտոր։ 1991թ․ նշանակվել է նորանկախ Հայաստանի Կապի նախարար՝ պաշտոնավարելով մինչև 1998թ․։ 1988թ․ Գրիգոր Պողպատյանն ակտիվորեն ներգրավվել է Ղարաբաղյան շшր ժ մшնը։
Մասնավորապես՝ գործուն մասնակցություն է ունեցել 1988թ․ մարտին Խ Ս Հ Գերագույն խորհրդի պատգամավորների շրջանում՝ արտահերթ նիստ գումարելու և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի մարզխորհրդի փետրվարի 20-ի որոշմանը դրական պատասխան տալու պահանջով կազմակերպված ստորագրահավաքին, որի արդյունքում հավաքվեց 110 պատգամավորի ստորագրություն։
Երկարատև հիվшնդnւթյnւնից հետո կյանքի 76-րդ տարում վш խ ճшնվել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Կապի առաջին նախարար Գրիգոր Պողպատյանը։

Grigor Poghpatyan was born on September 9, 1945 in Yerevan.
In 1968 he graduated from the Faculty of Cybernetics of the Polytechnic Institute, majoring in radio engineering. 1970-1982 ․ Worked in the Armenian branch of the All-Union Electrotechnical Research Institute as an engineer, head of the sector, designer. 1982-1991 ․ He worked in the “Laser Technology” scientific-industrial union as a head of the department, chief designer. 1991 Appointed Minister of Communications of newly independent Armenia, holding office until 1998. 1988 ․ Grigor Poghpatyan was actively involved in the Karabakh revolution.
In particular, he took an active part in 1988. In March, a petition was convened among the deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to convene a special session to demand a positive response to the February 20 decision of the Nagorno Karabakh Regional Council, as a result of which 110 deputies’ signatures were collected.
Grigor Poghpatyan, the first Minister of Communication of the Republic of Armenia, passed away at the age of 76 after a long illness.
